WORKSHOP FOR PROFESSIONAL GLASS ARTISTS 2026

January 19–23, 2026

Elemental – Sculpted Blown Glass with Raven Skyriver

«If you are someone that likes sculpting glass, and want to hone your skills, or if you blow glass, but haven’t tried sculpting it yet, this class will be a good way to grow your knowledge. We will use close observation studying the proportion and form of our inspiration. Through this observation we will determine how we should approach the sculptural process. Combining components, color, and texture to achieve a sense of realism. Be prepared to learn different approaches to color application, assembly of components, the use of the hot torch, problem solving, and working off center. All with an emphasis on teamwork.

The Earth, the Water, the Fire, the Air, return, return, return, return.»

Raven Skyriver began blowing glass at the age of sixteen. His mentor, Lark Dalton, taught him how to build glassblowing equipment and trained him in traditional Venetian techniques. In 2003, Raven was invited to join the William Morris team, where he worked until Morris’s retirement in 2007. This experience, alongside such a talented group of artists, reinforced his decision to dedicate himself to glass sculpture as a profession. Raven lives near the Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington, and produces his work in the Seattle area. He exhibits nationally and has participated in international group shows. His sculptural work, focused on representations of marine life, is inspired by his island upbringing and nourished by the creatures inhabiting this fragile ecosystem.
