From September 17 to October 16, 2015, the Espace VERRE gallery presents Face Nord, an exhibition presenting the works by glass and ceramic artist Michèle Perozeni, from France. She created these sculptures during her residency at the atelier Silex in Trois-Rivières during the summer of 2014, which was made possible with the support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.

She is inspired by the visual poetry and fragility of the Nordic and a forested landscape, as well as by the impact that mankind has on them. This exhibition will delineate the different transformations, of the rivers of the Trifluvian region, throughout history, as well as the ecological repercussions left by its repeated exploitations.

Her poetic observation and flash imagery showcase her profound environmental preoccupations. While her pate de verre and blown glass works attract the eye with their whiteness and purity, we are confronted by them, and forced to acknowledge the influence that we have on nature.

Michèle Perozeni studied at the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ESAD) in Strasbourg. There, she obtained two (DNEP) diplomas: one in ceramics in 1986 and another in glass in 1988. Along with Pierre Riehl and Gilles Desaulniers, she actively participated in the creation of the ESAD’s glass studio, where she taught for 21 years. In 2009, she left her teaching post to devote herself to her artistic career. She has shown her work in France and abroad for many years.

The gallery is open from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., as well as the last Sunday of every month, from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free of charge.
